Brazil: São Paulo: inside a tunnel of the ring road around the city. The first section of this giant ring road /the Rodoanel was opened in October 2002. Three thousand workers were involved directly and another ten thousand indirectly to construct 32kms including tunnels and embankments. This photograph was taken a week after the opening. Now more than 200,000 vehicles use the route every day.
