Margaret Mee in her most informal clothes she used on her journey to the Rio Negro,
Brasil 1988. She dressed simply while keeping her waist length hair piled behind
her head and always complete with a tiny green velvet bow - she wore the bow even
in the heat of the Amazon forest. She knew the Rio Negro from pervious journeys
and here she points to the forest, perhaps to a favourite tree or more likely
to some sign of human intrusion. |
