The late Roberto Burle Marx the internationally recognised landscape
architect with Margaret Mee on the patio of his home, the Sitio Santo Antonio
da Baca in Guaratiba about 45 kms west of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. February
1988. Roberto Burle Marx was born in Brasil August 1909 just two and half
months after Margaret had been born in England. They did not meet until the 1950s
when Margaret was settling in Brasil. They remained close
friends until separated by Margaret's untimely death in 1988. Robert Burle Marx
died in 1994
