interior of the iron cathedral in Arica which was designed by Gustave Eiffel in
France and transported by sea in sections to South America. The original cathedral
in Arica was built in 1640 and was destroyed by an earthquake and tsunami
in 1868. The prefabricated Eiffel iron cathedral was erected on this site in 1874.
