The Salvage of the SS Great Britain
Falkland Islands 1969 - 1970

With the crack made watertight with mattresses and most of the scuttling holes sealed with plywood, diesel-powered pumps were started on April 5th to pump out water in the bottom of the hull. The pumping continued through April 6 and at dawn on the 7th the ship unexpectedly came afloat.
