The Salvage of the SS Great Britain
Falkland Islands 1969 - 1970

The end of the day on which the first of the masts, the mizzen was removed. The main and fore masts remain standing. The masts were some of the largest ever made for a sailing ship: they weighed about 20 tons each and were some 95 feet in total length and nearly four feet in diameter.
